Warhol POP-ART

februari 16th, 2010 — 10:36f m

There’s numbers of Photoshop tutorials for Warhol’s Pop-art, but none of them are doing it the real way. Those tutorials are simplified to make quick pop-art with not much effort. If you want to do it closer to the original you have to put more time and do it more on freehand.

This is my first typical Warhol pop-art Monroe look-a-like. I did it as close as I could with a photograph of myself that I had on my computer. I will do it again, with another portrait with greater contrast and another angle. This is my trial and error pop-art.

It’s okay, but far from good. :-)

Beautiful sky

februari 2nd, 2010 — 10:41e m

I am completely stuck on skies! I love skies so much that I’m in love with them all. To be outside, sitting watching it change in the early morning or late at night, is one of the most beautiful things to do. A starlit sky, a storm sky, a dark-blue sky with lots of white cotton clouds, dark sky with a beautiful rainbow showing up. Pale winter-shade color, or autumn intense color. And of course these beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

I have always had such closeness to the nature, all since I was kid. Love to sit by the beach with my feet deep dug into the warm sand, listening to the waves hit ashore. Birds diving into the sea for fish, wind blow gently in the leaves on the trees.

When there is no other sounds than the sound of nature, and the sounds of your own breath, then you know exactly HOW POWERFUL mother nature is.

To be able to appreciate the world we live in, we have to stop this crazy hunt for ”what” (?). Career, the fanciest house, newest coolest things, perfection, friends, family, expectations or whatever it might be.

I want to live here and now, for me, my children, my dear ones, family, appreciate them, show them my LOVE, have a good time, laugh and feel good. I believe things happens for a reason, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Life is a lesson and I’m a devoted student, with an open mind, learning something new every day! And I will keep that great hunger for knowledge and curiosity forever.

When I’m in the nature those are the values that get so visible and strong for me. Nothing else matters.

Windmill in a starlit sky

januari 25th, 2010 — 12:55e m
windmill

Welcome to the country of windmills. Everytime I’m driving out to my mom’s house I’ve been watching these big windmills. They’re hugh, powerful and I wouldn’t be standing close to them, when the  blades comes off. It has happen a couple of times, that they have been coming off. Scary! Since the blades are really big, and it will cut you into pieces in a split second.

My fascination have maintained. With mixed feelings. I been thinking many many times, that I really want to take photograph of it, but everytime I have been driving by, the circumstances for an interesting photograph has been lacking.

Last night, after to say the least a incredible boring day, I looked out and thought this would be  ”T-H-E” perfect day to shoot such an uninteresting object. During normal day, normal wheather this shoot would be BORING.

I had the wheather on my side. Only light source for me was the white snow on the ground and the half moon. Since we’re having wintertime and snowing, the sky tends to go in a typical blue/purple/red(snow sky) shade which is very pretty with long shutterspeed. That it also was starlit didn’t make the circumstance worser. ;-))))

It was totally calm outside, the only sound I heard was the wind draft from the big rotating blades on the windmill.(wooosch wooosch wooosch wooosch) The moon was shining bright in my eyes and the stars sparkled bright and intensed. It was magical. It was powerful, it was frightening and beautiful at the same time. =)

There I was in the middle of a field among tussock and long grass sticking up through the snow. 9:30 PM(when everybody was curled up under their blankets watching TV). Sitting on my knees in the snow, underneath and only a couple of meters from this giant thing, camera on my tripod pointing straight up in the sky. T’was cold but I didn’t realized until I jumped back in my car, that my fingers was like icicles.

I Really LOVE those moments. Makes me feel soooo alive. =)

Art of photography

december 26th, 2009 — 9:23e m

Even a failure can be turned into a piece of art. This one is originally a failure. Under exposed and a negative I would never be able to get the way it was supposed to. But there was something I saw behind those failures. And I opened it in my raw editior and very soon it was crystal clear how I wanted to show off this image.

For a long time I was doubting wheather I was gonna make the ”moon” heart with a smooth surface, but in the end I think it would be to much of a contrast and I think the heart light from the light source was more interesting with a ”moon” surface! =)
